SKNA founder, Dr. Scott Sims, began practice in Bowling Green in 1987 eventually forming Southern Kentucky Nephology Associates.
Scott Sims, M.D.
Dr. Scott Sims graduated medical school from New Jersey Medical School, internship, residency in Delaware and Nephrology fellowship at Georgetown University. He moved to Bowling Green and opened this practice over thirty-six years ago (1987). The practice was booming and he brought on his colleague and best friend, Dr. Carlos Rotellar, to join him in 1993. The practice has continued to grow, now comprised of five MDs, 4 APRNs and seven staff members. He serves as an emeritus professor and an as needed clinical nephrologist in the practice upon his full-time retirement in 2022.
He continues to bring wisdom, wit, and humor to the practice. He is currently serving with nephrology at UNC Chapel Hill, where his daughter Laura is training to be a nephrologist as well. He and his wife, Dr. Rosalie Padilla reside in Bowling Green. In his free time, he enjoys tinkering with mechanics, guitar, piano, reading and skiing.
